Mariia Blaga
PIANO, OBOE, RECORDER & MORE
Hello! My name is Mariia, and music has been a part of my life since childhood. I was born in
Ukraine into a family of musicians—a tradition that dates back to my great-grandfather, a cellist,
and my great-grandmother, a singer. My grandmother was a pianist who taught children to play
the piano for over 45 years, and my mother is also a pianist, a teacher and an experienced
accompanist. Even my father, though not a professional musician, played the violin as a child
and later fell in love with the guitar. So my passion for music started almost from birth!
I studied piano for six years at school before discovering the oboe. Thanks to a wonderful
teacher, this instrument became my profession. While studying at the University of Arts, I played
in a youth orchestra, and after earning my bachelor's degree, I joined the National Opera and
Ballet Theater, where I worked for almost 20 years. During this time, I toured in more than 10
countries and collaborated with various orchestras.
In addition to my orchestral experience, I have worked with children, as I have always enjoyed
sharing my knowledge and inspiring the younger generation. I also played in a small cover band
with my friends flute and guitar players.
In my free time, I love playing with my five-year-old son and our kitten. I like hiking, swimming
and baking cookies, cakes and bread. I look forward to meeting you and your children to explore
the magical world of music together!
