Gleice Uzur

VIOLIN, VIOLA, PIANO

Gleice de Oliveira Uzur is a Brazilian violinist born in Sāo Paulo. She began her music studies at
the age of 5 and received her education at Escola Municipal de Música and Faculdade Santa
Marcelina. Her studies abroad include classes in Bulgaria with Prof Stoika Milanova (pupil of
David Oistrakh, silver medalist at Queen Elisabeth Competition - 1967 & gold medalist at Carl
Flesch Competition - 1970), Austria, Germany and United States with Prof Peter Zazofsky
(silver medalist at Queen Elisabeth - 1980) .


As the recipient of the prestigious award from the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, she was the only
South American to participate in the Australian String Academy in 2009, Sydney, Australia.
As a Concertmaster and Associate Concertmaster she served in Orchestra Bachiana (2008), Sāo
Paulo Symphony Youth Orchestra (2009), and Orquestra de Câmara de Universidade de São
Paulo (2012-13). Gleice also performed extensively with chamber ensembles such as FASM
String Quartet, Ethos String Quartet, Candle Trio (flute, violin and viola) and OCAM String
Quartet.


In Brazil, she worked as violin/string teacher of Sāo Paulo Young Philarmonic Orchestra and
Guri Santa Marcelina, a social program for at-risk students in Sāo Paulo. She is also an adjunct
violin teacher at Weber State University.
